How to create a Cross-selling scenario

Auctiva Commerce allows you to create cross-selling scenarios on your storefront so that customers are presented with related items when shopping. This feature can help you increase sales per order. This tutorial will show you how to create cross-selling scenarios for your store.

What is cross-selling?

Cross-selling is a technique that introduces related products to a shopper for the purpose of selling more items.  When cross-selling works, the average sales per order will increase as a customer adds more items to their cart. Items that are used in cross-selling scenarios are usually related items (e.g., product accessories). When a customer is viewing a particular product, cross-selling items that are assigned to that product will display in the Related Products section of the storefront.

How to create a cross-selling scenario

A cross-selling scenario must be individually set up for each product. You can assign multiple products to appear in the Related Products section of the storefront if necessary.

Step 1. Find a product.
  • Go to Inventory> Manage Inventory. Find the item that will have a cross-selling scenario added. Use the search tool if necessary.
  • Click the Edit button. This will load the product Details page.
  • Click on the Cross-sell tab. This will load the Cross-sell page.
Step 2. Assign items.
  •  Product Name: Enter the name of the product you want to assign to this product. Check the Show Thumbnails box if you want the search result to return images.
  • Click the Search button.
  • Click the Add button to link the related item. The related product will be displayed in the Item box. You can delete items by using the Delete button.
  • Add more products if necessary.
  • Click the Finish button. This will take you back to your product Details tab. The changes are now saved.

This completes the task of creating a cross-selling scenario for a particular product.
