Adding a custom domain for your Auctiva Commerce store

You can use a custom domain name with your Auctiva Commerce store. This will allow you to create a unique URL for your store. This tutorial will show you how to add your custom domain to your Auctiva Commerce store.

What is a custom domain name?

A custom domain name is a unique Internet address that web visitors use to get to your website. By default, we give you a sub-domain name for your store (e.g., ""). By adding a custom domain, you will be able to create a more recognizable website address (e.g., "").

How do I set up my store with a custom domain name that I own?

  • Ask your domain provider to point the host records for your domain to using a A record, or login to your domain management area and perfrom this action yourself.
  • Login to your Auctiva Commerce Admin.
  • Navigate to Store > Configure > Store Settings.
  • In the General section enter the Custom Domain you want to use - do not include the http:// or www.  (For Example: should be entered as
  • Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE at the bottom of the page.

If you opened your store prior to April 3, 2012 and bought your domain from Auctiva follow these instructions: 

  • Go to the Auctiva Web site:
  • Log in to your account by using your Auctiva username and password.
  • Hover your mouse over the Store tab and click on the "Domains" link. The Manage Domains page will load.
  • In the "Your Domains" section find the domain you wish to use for your Auctiva Commerce store. If it does not exist there you will need to add it.  In the "Destination" column, select the "Auctiva Commerce" option from the drop-down box. This will set the destination the domain is assigned to, but it will not immediately take effect. It may take a day or two before the store is re-assigned to your Auctiva Commerce store.
